The open-plan lounge and restaurant overlooks a floodlit waterhole, and is warmed by a central fireplace in the winter. Many species of animal, bird, and plant life thrive here, some endemic to Namibia. Walking the area surrounding the lodge is highly encouraged and is the best way to experience the beauty of the Erongo Mountains.
The 10 chalets, raised on stilts are in harmony with their surroundings, with broad, shaded decks, and indulgent bathrooms built around the existing rocks and trees. All chalets have a mini-bar, pedestal fans and tea and coffee making facilities.
Unlimited walks are included. Options include sundowner walks, short walks of 1-2 hours or longer walks of 3-4 hours. There are also numerous self guided options.

Walking the area surrounding the lodge is highly encouraged and is the best way to experience the beauty of the Erongo Mountains. The guides are extremely well trained on the flora and fauna of the area and are available to escort guests at any time that suits them. An unlimited number of guided walks are included in the room rate. Walking possibilities include:
Early morning walk – this is for those who want to get the most out of the beauty of the Erongo Mountains during the stunning early morning light. This walk is 3–4 hours in duration and the level of difficulty depending on your preference.
Morning walk – this is for those who want to have a more relaxed walk, but still experience the beauty of the Erongo Mountains. This walk is 1–2 hours long.
Sundowner walk – very close to the lodge, you will be guided up a granite hill where you can enjoy a cold sundowner drink whilst watching the sun set over spectacular views of the Erongo and Brandberg Mountains.
There are also a number of self-guided walking trails if you wish to explore independently. This vary in difficulty from a gentle stroll to more strenuous routes.
Erongo Wilderness Lodge forms part of the 200,000 hectare Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy. This pristine wilderness area straddles the Erongo Mountains: a natural reserve within a vast volcanic crater complex, which boasts unparalleled biodiversity. After about an hour and a half’s drive through the spectacular scenery, you will end up at the foot of the hill where the site of Paula’s Cave can be found. An easy walk up the hill will take you to this National Monument site where you can view some bushman rock art. This drive can be done in the morning or afternoon. If you do it in the afternoon, after exploring Paula’s Cave, you will relax with a cold sundowner drink and enjoy the sunset. A slow drive searching for nocturnal animals with the help of a spotlight will bring you back to the lodge in time for dinner.
