Activities on Lady Elliot Island

The island is a paradise for snorkellers and divers. Explore the reef directly from the beach, join guided snorkelling tours, or take a glass-bottom boat to discover the colourful underwater world. Reef walking, swimming, bird watching, stargazing and guided nature tours provide opportunities to experience the island both above and below the waterline.

Wildlife encounters are a highlight year-round. Between November and March, green and loggerhead turtles nest and hatch on the island’s beaches, and thousands of seabirds make the cay their seasonal home. Winter brings majestic manta rays to the surrounding waters, a spectacular sight.
