Custom-designed for polar fly-in voyages, the luxurious Magellan Explorer benefits from the latest technology making her safe, efficient and environmentally friendly.
Maximum passengers: 69
The Magellan Explorer is primarily used for fly-in voyages, carrying just 69 passengers in comfortable and spacious cabins, with twin, queen or king-size beds. The ship also features dedicated single cabins. All cabins except the Porthole category feature a private balcony and separate sitting area.
The ship also features a glass-enclosed observation lounge with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment for presentations, a large dining room, bar, library and gift shop. The meeting room includes multimedia resources and an interactive science lab, and there is also a gym, sauna and medical clinic on board.
Constructed in 2018, this modern expedition vessel meets current Polar Code specifications as per the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and is ice-strengthened to the highest level, a ‘Polar Class 6’ standard. Technological enhancements include retractable stabilizers for smooth sailing, ice-detecting radar, and both bow and stern thrusters for greater manoeuvrability.
To reduce her environmental footprint the Magellan Explorer is equipped with an energy-recovery system that recycles the heat produced by the engines to warm up the ship and hot water supply. Her engines are built to Tier III compliance, the most stringent emission standard.
