Winner of an architectural eco-design award, Mowani is located amongst boulders in Damaraland; the lodge blending seamlessly with the environment.
Mowani offers 13 rooms plus two luxury suites. All rooms have views across the valley or hill top vistas, air conditioning, a balcony or deck and an outside shower. The suites have open-air bathrooms and a spacious lounge and deck for enjoying meals in peaceful seclusion.
The lodge boasts sweeping views across the Aba-Huab Valley, especially from a sundowner spot built high above the lodge where you can watch the sun set over the beautiful Damaraland landscape and enjoy a sundowner drink.
Located close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein, activities include visits to see the rock paintings as well as desert elephant tracking.
- Lounge area overlooking a waterhole
- Small rock pool
- Sundowner spot
The following optional activities are available from Mowani:
Wildlife and scenic drive
Venture out on a nature drive looking for wildlife. Damaraland is the best place in Namibia to see animals completely unfenced and in the wild. You will not see animals in large quantities here, but the sightings can be more rewarding. Desert adapted elephants are probably the best known of the region’s unique wildlife but it is also possible to see springbok and oryx in this area too.
Enjoy a guided tour of Twyfelfontein, Namibia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Twyfelfontein boasts the best examples of bushman paintings and engravings in Southern Africa, featuring 2,500 examples dating back 6,000 years. The rock engravings are found on a number of smooth rock surfaces and most of them depict animals and their tracks.
