Introduction

Onguma Tented Camp is situated on the eastern side of Etosha bordering Fisher’s Pan and a short drive from the von Lindequist Gate. In the local Herero language, Onguma means, ‘the place you don’t want to leave’.

Onguma Game Reserve has more than 34,000 hectares of protected land and wildlife. The nature reserve boasts over 30 different animal species including plains game such as kudu, giraffe, oryx and zebra as well as predators such as lion, cheetah and leopard. More than 300 bird species can also be viewed at Onguma. During the Namibian summer months the reserve becomes a bird watcher’s paradise with thousands of species migrating to the wetlands created by the seasonal rains and ephemeral river systems.

Onguma Tented Camp is an intimate camp, boasting the ultimate in safari chic. Featuring just seven tents, they all have a view of the waterhole, their own bath, indoor and outdoor showers, a fan and tea and coffee making facilities.

Game drive – Onguma Game Reserve
Guided game drives take place on the private Onguma Game Reserve. Onguma Game Reserve has more than 34,000 hectares of protected land and wildlife. Lions are frequently seen and often heard. There is a healthy black rhino and leopard population and hyenas are also regularly spotted. More than 300 bird species can also be viewed at Onguma. Sunset drives and night drives can also be arranged.

Game drive – Etosha National Park
Game drives are available to explore Etosha National Park, the wildlife jewel of Namibia, accompanied by a knowledgeable guide. Drive round the park searching for wildlife and stop at some of Etosha’s famous waterholes to watch a procession of animals come to drink.

Interpretative bush walk
Explore the Onguma Game Reserve on foot, with a guide learning more about the flora and fauna found in the reserve.
