The Fort is architecturally unique boasting stunning stone clad features and a huge tower with views toward Etosha and Fisher’s Pan offering spectacular sunset views. Situated on the eastern side of Etosha and a short drive from the von Lindequist Gate. In the local Herero language, Onguma means, ‘the place you don’t want to leave’.
Onguma Game Reserve has more than 34,000 hectares of protected land and wildlife. The nature reserve boasts over 30 different animal species including plains game such as kudu, giraffe, oryx and zebra as well as predators such as lion, cheetah and leopard. More than 300 bird species can also be viewed at Onguma. During the Namibian summer months the reserve becomes a bird watcher’s paradise with thousands of species migrating to the wetlands created by the seasonal rains and ephemeral river systems.
Moroccan and Indian flavours combine perfectly with the selection of beautiful antique windows and doors. The courtyard contains a large water feature, across the courtyard is a spacious beautifully decorated lounge and open air dining room. A large wooden deck leads outside, with comfortable seating, in full view of the waterhole. Meals can be enjoyed inside, by the lantern-lit pool, in the courtyard or alongside the water feature.
There are 11 mini suites, one honeymoon and one Sultan suite. Each suite completely private and equipped with spacious en-suite bathrooms with both an inside and outside shower area. Air conditioning, a mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities are standard. Wooden decks lead towards the outside seating area where you can relax, unwind and enjoy the extraordinary bush view on comfortable sun loungers.

Game drive – Onguma Game Reserve
Guided game drives take place on the private Onguma Game Reserve. Onguma Game Reserve has more than 34,000 hectares of protected land and wildlife. Lions are frequently seen and often heard. There is a healthy black rhino and leopard population and hyenas are also regularly spotted. More than 300 bird species can also be viewed at Onguma. Sunset drives and night drives can also be arranged.
Game drive – Etosha National Park
Game drives are available to explore Etosha National Park, the wildlife jewel of Namibia, accompanied by a knowledgeable guide. Drive round the park searching for wildlife and stop at some of Etosha’s famous waterholes to watch a procession of animals come to drink.
Interpretative bush walk
