Perched at the edge of Pink Bay, on KI’s eastern tip, it’s only natural that Sea Dragon’s focal point is the sea. All guest rooms enjoy views over the sparkling ocean, where if you’re lucky you might spot seals, dolphins, or even passing whales during the winter months. Back on dry land two thirds of the property is a protected wildlife conservancy, ensuring regular encounters with the resident kangaroos, wallabies, goannas or echidnas.

The guest rooms range from deluxe and premium ocean view rooms to superior ocean view suites and a luxury ocean view villa, each with its own private outdoor deck and vistas over Pink Bay. The rooms are spacious and modern, and thoughtfully designed in keeping with their natural surroundings. Each room features eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient amenities, providing a perfect balance of luxury and environmental responsibility.

Dining at Sea Dragon

With breakfast and dinner included, dining will be a highlight of your stay at Sea Dragon. The light and airy dining room overlooks the ocean and the menu features fresh local produce, including Kangaroo Island lamb and seafood flavoured with native herbs. The chef can also rustle up a picnic if you prefer to dine al fresco at the beach.

Activities and experiences

During your stay you can enjoy a selection of activities guided by the Sea Dragon team, including a full day nature tour exploring Flinders Chase and Seal Bay. Closer to home there are guided walks to the nearby lighthouse, the chance to meet legendary locals, search for wildlife, or sample some of the Island’s mouth-watering produce such as honey and wine. Every day brings a new adventure – or you may just prefer to wander down to the beach with a good book!

Sustainability at Sea Dragon

The owners of Sea Dragon are committed to minimising the environmental impact of the lodge and its guests. All accommodations have been designed and built to meet 6-star environmental ratings, and the property currently runs on 85% solar energy with plans in place to increase this.

100% rainwater is used for all accommodation, and the property uses enviro-septic systems that convert grey water to freshwater for irrigation, saving approximately 6,000 litres of water monthly. Eco-friendly toiletries are provided, featuring native Australian ingredients, and all coffee pods and single-use plastics, cardboard and glass are recycled. In addition, Sea Dragon supports the Dudley Peninsula feral cat eradication programme in order to protect Kangaroo Island’s native species.
