Introduction

With the palm-fringed Four Mile Beach on its doorstep, Shantara is a fifty-four room, resort-style complex offering up-market self-contained apartments. The drive to Shantara itself is stunning. Rounding the corner from the highway immediately brings breathtaking views, with beach after beach marking the coastline that stretches towards Port Douglas and the famous World Heritage Daintree National Park and Great Barrier Reef.

The resort is within easy walking distance of Macrossan, where boutique shopping, cafés and an array of quality restaurants are available. The Marina, which has daily departures to the Great Barrier Reef, is also within easy access. Shantara itself has two lagoon style swimming pools, a spa and gym at your disposal, making this boutique property a relaxing getaway in a beautiful region.

There is in-house catering offering a gourmet breakfast and supper menu, made to order gourmet picnic hampers, fruit baskets, and seafood platters. There is a selection of studio or apartment (one or two bedroom). The studio rooms are ideal for short stays, well appointed with kitchenette and balcony, but for a longer stay the full apartments are recommended. Featuring an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area and with the bedroom separated by sliding Japanese screens, there is ample space to spread out. Balconies, of course, are standard throughout and the apartments offer either direct pool access or an outdoor hot tub.
