With every new year comes a brand new edition of Sweden’s iconic Icehotel. Artists from all over the world entered and after months of deliberation, the designs for the 29th Icehotel have finally been revealed TODAY. Rumour has it, one was even submitted on the back of a napkin! Here is a sneak peek of what is to come this winter…

The Living Ocean Suite by Jonathan Paul and Marnie Green (UK)

Icewoman by Linda Vagnelind (Sweden)

Haven by Jonas Johansson, Jordia Claramunt & Lukas Petko (Sweden, Spain and Slovenia)

‘The Living Ocean Suite’ is by British father and daughter duo, Jonathan Paul and Marnie Green and reveals an eerie underwater world, highlighting the negative effect of climate change. Another suite ‘Spruce Woods’ by Canadian friends, Christopher Pancoe and Jennie O’Keefe, enters a remote frozen forest camp where guests can gather around an ice fire. Finally, ‘Haven’ by Jonas Johansson, Jordia Claramunt & Lukas Petka depicts a magical portal guarded by an enormous Phoenix.

This is just a small taste of what you can expect; in total there will be 15 unique art suites, one ice ceremony hall and one pillar hall.

The winter Icehotel opens on 14th December 2018.
