Polar bears can weigh 600kg and sprint over 25mph. They are fearless, powerful hunters that can smell you coming from miles away. That is why our polar bear holidays based in Churchill, Canada make use of Polar Rovers. These specialised vehicles combine technology and comfort, space with practicality to ensure the best possible close encounters with these magnificent mammals.

Open Air Viewing Platforms

Large rear viewing platforms allow you to observe bears within the elements. Bears often lift their paws onto the sides to check out the curious humans!

The platforms feature unique mesh flooring to allows you to come within inches of the great ice bear.

Easy Slide Windows

Specially designed windows can be easily slid downward, ideal for photography at the opportune moment, before easily closing to keep out the cold.

On that note, each Polar Rover features an onboard heating system designed to keep the entire Polar Rover at a comfortable temperature throughout. We still recommend that you apply your own ‘layering system’, as the heating is likely to be adjusted according to group consensus.

All the comforts

These are beasts of vehicles and have the capacity for up to 50 passengers, however, on these trips, groups are limited to around 16 passengers meaning everyone has a window seat and room to move around.

The reclining bus seats provide lumbar support and side bolsters, providing the most comfortable ride available.

Rather than a drop bucket, the Rovers have professionally installed flush toilets to ensure comfort throughout the day.

Sloped Front Windshield

The angled windshield provides an opportunity for closer viewing when the action is right in front of you. Some might even say this is the best seat in the Rover.

Tundra tyres & Suspension

Six-foot tyres lift the rovers safely above the bears and provide a comfortable ride. They look pretty cool too!

Our specially designed suspension (leaf spring front with walking beam rear) enhances the glide of our vehicle and provides a remarkably comfortable ride.

A Driver & Team Leader

These adventures include both a highly experienced driver / guide AND a professionally trained expedition leader. The radio system keeps the drivers in constant contact both rover base and other drivers out on the tundra facilitating the safest and best polar bear viewing.

Get your geek on!

Polar Rovers are powered by 240 H.P. DT466 International engines, giving us a top speed of 35 miles per hour.
