Supporting the Next Generation

Overview

In 1988, we founded our sister company, Discover the World Education offering school trips designed to inspire and educate. We specialise in geography and language trips to destinations we are true experts in, including Iceland, France, Spain, Italy, Norway, the Azores and Costa Rica.

We believe that all students should benefit from educational travel, whatever their background. That’s why a percentage of revenue from your holiday, goes into our Education Bursary Fund. Run in partnership with the Geographical Association, it means that 30 students who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity can join one of our school trips abroad.

The world’s great. Pass it on

“Following the launch of our next Iceland trip, a student who had been enthralled during the talk, came up to me afterwards, crestfallen at the cost, knowing there was no way they would be able to go. But through Discover the World’s Education Bursary Fund, I have been able to add this student to the trip-of-a-lifetime that they will never forget. New friendships with others on the trip have already started to develop through this common bond. The bursaries offer the most amazing experience to those who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity.”

How our school trips shape futures

School trips are a rite of passage for many. The taste of independence on the horizon; the excitement for the adventure which lies ahead. An average school trip might only be five nights, but the positive impact lasts a lifetime.

Visiting a new country, trying new activities and experiencing new cultures has the power to shape a young person’s future and lay the foundation for their lives ahead. That’s why we are meticulous about what we offer. Our school trips go beyond the ordinary.

On our geography trips for example, young people will encounter iconic landscapes, from Iceland’s volcanoes to the snow-capped peaks of Norway. They can take part in unique activities, such as cooking lunch, geothermally, in the Azores or experiencing turtle conservation first hand in Costa Rica.

In 2024 we launched fully immersive language trips. Carefully curated by former language teachers, they include destinations such as Bordeaux, Sète and Annecy in France and El Puerto, Toledo and Almuñécar in Spain.

For teachers we provide award-winning resources, free, to all schools, including classroom packs, videos, revision sessions and webinars to enhance students’ learning. We also offer engaging and informative CPD sessions for teachers bringing together the latest teaching strategies in line with the national curriculum.

For parents whose children are ready to embark on one of our school trips, we have a dedicated support zone answering questions from spending money to kit lists.
