Diving Silfra Day Tour

5-8 hours | Year round

Introduction

Possibly one of the most unique dives that guests will ever experience, this diving trip takes divers below the surface of Thingvellir itself.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this world-renowned site is where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet and the Silfra fissure’s crystal clear waters make a world-class dive site.

Between 10 and 30 metres deep and with miraculously clear waters, the lava walls of this fissure into the earth’s crust are absolutely wonderous. All dives are performed in a dry suit.

The tour includes two dives, each around 30-40 minutes with a maximum depth of 18 meters. In the winter, however, if the outside temperature drops below 0°C, only one extended (40-45 minute) dive will be included for the safety and comfort of the divers.

Hot chocolate and cookies are included as part of the dive break.

Please note that all divers must hold a PADI Open Water or comparable, while a PADI advanced with dry suit certificate is recommended.

Please note that all participants must be certified a dry suit diver or be able to provide proof of at least 10 logged dry suit dives within the last two years. The proof must be a written confirmation by an instructor affiliated with an internationally recognised diving organisation.
All participants must also read and sign a ‘Diving Silfra Medical Statement’ and if necessary provide a doctors clearance note. Maximum age and weight restrictions apply.
