Witness the raw power of planet earth as you hike into the Geldingadalur Valley to the site of the March 2021 Fagradalsfjall eruption.
After lying dormant for nearly 800 years Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula burst into life with a volcanic fissure opening up to reveal the dramatic sight of molten red lava below. A 1.5 hour hike will take you to a safe vantage point overlooking the site, from where you can see the lava flows, new crater, and scorched surrounds. There will be plenty of time available for photographs and contemplation before retracing your steps out of this dramatic valley.
The volcano hiking experience is dependent on weather and volcano conditions, and may be cancelled for safety reasons.
