Full Day Overland Safari to Monturaki Meteorite Crater – 4×4

Introduction
A 4×4 adventure to one of the world’s best preserved impact craters
Riding in a 4×4 vehicle, this expedition heads south of the Salar de Atacama (Atacama salt flat) to visit the site of the Monturaki Meteor strike, (also known as Monturaqui), the second best preserved impact crater in the world. At 370 metres long, 350 metres wide and 34 metres deep it is the only confirmed impact structure in Chilean territory today. The village of Peine is visited next, where ruins of an old Inca trail can be viewed. Near the village are two natural pools of water enclosed by rocks and fed by springs. Taking the same route back, you will have time to stop at Laguna Chaxa in the Los Flamencos Natural Reserve – where three varieties of flamingos can often be found.
