Introduction

A classic guided tour of Iceland’s famous trio, this is a good way to learn all about the country’s world-famous Golden Circle.

The tour begins at Thingvellir, a site of both geological and historical fascination, this was ancient assembly site of the world’s first parliament, but the deep rift here is also what marks the boundary between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.

The second stop is the Geysir geothermal area, the home of the one and only original geyser and Iceland’s most iconic natural attraction. Here the ground trembles and steaming hot water spouts spectacularly skywards from the famous Strokkur every few minutes. Not too far away is the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall, here a powerful glacial river cascades down 32 meters on two levels and into a narrow canyon.
