An adventurous ride for those who dream of exploring Iceland in a more traditional way.
This tour introduces visitors to some of the island’s iconic Icelandic horses and allows these animals to take them through the majestic scenery of south-western Iceland.
After arriving at Ishestar Riding Centre and meeting your furry companion for this half-day tour, you will depart onto the moss-covered lava fields that surround the mound of Mt Helgafell.
Once home to a temple to the god, Thor, and a site that appears in an ancient saga, this area has long held a position of fascination and now represents a site of extreme beauty. With the beautiful Blafjoll Mountains towering over the horizon, guests today will head to either the old Kaldarsel sheep corral or to the silver and blue gem of Lake Hvaleyrarvatn.
All riding on this excursion is on suitable paths.
Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes-2 hours
Departures: 10:00 and 14:00 daily (transfers from Reykjavik hotels and guesthouses to the Riding Centre at 08:45 and 12:45)
