Visit the picturesque Cape Winelands region, explore the quaint town of Stellenbosch and sample the local wine.
First, you will head to Stellenbosch, the heart of South Africa’s wine industry and the second oldest town in South Africa. Walk down the canal-lined avenues, in the shade of giant oak trees and beautifully preserved historic buildings. This area boasts many wine estates and you will enjoy your first wine tasting at the Waterford Estate (or similar).
Next, you will travel over the Helshoogte Pass to the town of Franschhoek, dating back to the 17th century when the French Huguenots arrived. Billed as the food and wine capital of South Africa, this charming town located in a most picturesque valley, retains a French Huguenot style. You will enjoy a second wine tasting before having free time for lunch where you may wish to dine at one of Franschoek’s many award winning restaurants (own expense).
After lunch, you will continue to Paarl, one of the Cape’s first farming districts where you will have your final wine tasting of the day, before heading back to Cape Town.
