Swim With Dolphins Tour, Akaroa

3 hours | Year round

Introduction

Home to the world’s smallest and rarest species of dolphin, the Akaroa’s endangered Hector’s Dolphin is a touching and charismatic animal to view.

Boarding your Black Cat vessel in Akaroa, your three-hour cruise commences around the harbour, which is the only place in the world where you can swim with this petit cetacean.

The jet-powered catamaran ensures ultimate safety for both the swimmers and dolphins alike and the animals’ welfare is the first-priority of those operating in Akaroa. The tour includes a 30 minute briefing, two hours exploring the harbour with up to 45 minutes in the water with the dolphins themselves, followed by a 30 minute debrief.

After the debrief you will be served with hot drinks and are free to enjoy a warm shower. Wetsuits, masks and snorkels are included, while dry suits are provided from May to September.
