The Taieri Gorge Railway is one of the world’s great train journeys, taking passengers from the heart of historic Dunedin to the rugged mountain interior of Central Otago and back again.
The longest tourist line in New Zealand, the Taieri Gorge Railway travels through spectacular scenery along the banks of the Taieri River. Your journey will be through the rugged and spectacular Taieri River Gorge, across wrought iron viaducts and through tunnels carved by hand more than 100 years ago. There is full commentary on board, photographic stops, comfortable heating and refreshments as well as all weather entertainment.
A half-day tour, this journey departs and returns to the historic railway station in Dunedin.
