Introduction
A wildlife adventure onboard a traditional sailing boat, this evening cruise offers the chance to take direct action in ocean conservation, whilst enjoying close encounters with the whales and birds of beautiful Skjálfandi Bay.
During the 3.5 hour cruise you’ll have the opportunity to assist the onboard marine biologists with hands-on ocean research and micro-plastic analysis, and gain a deeper insight into marine conservation. As you search for humpback whales and other cetaceans you’ll also learn about the important contribution these magnificent creatures make to the marine ecosystem, and the challenges that they now face. Conditions permitting, you can also get involved with hoisting the sails on the wooden vessel, gliding through the ocean powered only by nature* – the perfect way to experience this special corner of Iceland.
