Introduction
Wintjiri Wiru (from the local Pitjantjatjara language meaning ‘beautiful view out to the horizon’) is an innovative new sound and light show in the heart of the Australian Outback. Using ground-breaking technology, Wintjiri Wiru brings to life a fascinating chapter of the Mala story.
Take a gentle stroll through the desert along an elevated walkway to the open-air theatre, set upon a dune top overlooking Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Here you’ll find yourself immersed in a living story as choreographed drones, lasers and projections illuminate the desert sky. Listen to a traditional Inma soundtrack and narration in the Pitjantjatjara language, and feel the powerful connection to country as you experience the modern retelling of this ancient Anangu tale.
As custodians of the land, Anangu hold the Mala story from Kaltukatjara to Uluru. To share their story from Kaltukatjara to Uluru, RAMUS designed and produced an artistic platform using drones, light and sound to create an immersive storytelling experience.
This brand new experience opens in May 2023. Transfers depart from Ayers Rock Resort approximately 2 hours after sunset.
