Festive fun with Santa

Santa Holidays in Lapland

Christmas is a time that many of us choose to immerse ourselves in traditions and wonder. For children the desire to meet Santa Claus in person is top of the list, while for adults evoking feel-good memories of times past is sure to bring a warm glow. Our trips have been thoughtfully designed to capture all the magic of a childhood Christmas whatever your age.

During winter, Lapland’s sprawling natural landscape of forests, lakes and fells is transformed into a magical snow-covered wilderness. And during December, as the daylight dwindles, an atmospheric light, known as ‘kaamos’ illuminates the landscape in hues of blue and purple. Welcome to Christmas in Lapland!

Where you stay

Quality accommodation and a wide choice of activities for different ages are the building blocks of our holidays. You can also maximise your chances of seeing the northern lights with custom-designed accommodation for viewing in comfort.

Wilderness Hotels

Further north, on the edge of Lake Inari, Nellim Wilderness Hotel and its sister properties Inari and Muotka, have a choice of accommodation from cosy hotel rooms to luxury log cabins amidst an authentic winter wonderland. As well as a private visit to Santa’s cabin, mush huskies, meet reindeer and learn the traditional way to bake gingerbread.

Grand Arctic Hotel

Characterful Grand Arctic Hotel in Overkalix, is the base for an affordable, action-packed adventure in Swedish Lapland. Explore by snowmobile and husky sled, make traditional ornaments and meet Santa on a private visit.

Saunas and Aurora

While Santa’s presence (and presents) may be the highlight of the trip for your children, our holidays offer alternative delights for the senior members of your family. Untainted by light pollution, the aurora borealis can shine brightly in Lapland. All you need do, is step outside your cabin (or remain inside if in an aurora cabin) and look up…

Then there are saunas. The most intrinsic of Finnish traditions, the sauna is a way of life for Finns. Whether you choose to partake of the full invigorating ritual involving birch twigs and an ice plunge or simply unwind after a full day of snowbound activities, a sauna experience is not to be missed in Lapland.
