Opening in October 2025 this new boutique hotel is nestled on the edge of south Iceland’s raw and rugged coastline, overlooking vast stretches of black sand beaches and surrounded by lava fields, and the northern Atlantic.
Inspired by the beauty of the island’s volcanic landscape rooms are comfortable with a touch of Scandinavian elegance, and feature large windows with river or ocean views, and cosy, geothermal warmth — perfect for watching the dancing northern lights.
Reykjanes UNESCO Global Geopark
Explore the volcanic landscapes, rugged coastlines and small fishing villages of the Reykjanes UNESCO Global Geopark. Cross the bridge between two continents, walk around the steamy Krysuvik mud pools, be amazed by the mysterious Gunnuhver geothermal area or head to Reykjanesviti beach, where Iceland’s oldest lighthouse sits amongst a dramatic rocky landscape.
Golden Circle
Discover the delights of the Golden Circle, taking in Iceland’s three most famous natural wonders: the rainbow misted double falls of Gullfoss, the geothermal hotspot of Geysir with its well-known geyser Strokkur which regularly erupts to around 30m, and the scenic national park Thingvellir where Iceland’s ancient parliament met.
Itinerary
Fly to Keflavik, pick up your hire car and drive to the Black Sand Hotel your base for three nights.
Explore the sites of the Golden circle, including the iconic Strokkur at Geysir, thundering Gullfoss waterfall and magnificent Thingvellir National Park. This evening relax in the scenic surrounds of the hotel and keep watch for the aurora.
Start at Lake Kleifarvatn, shaped by Iceland’s seismic activity. Nearby, visit the Krýsuvík mud pools to see bubbling hot springs amid colorful hills. Experience the geothermal power of Gunnuhver and cross the Bridge Between Two Continents. Finish at Reykjanesviti beach, home to Iceland’s oldest lighthouse on a striking volcanic coastline.
You may wish to stop for a swim in the mineral rich waters of the Blue Lagoon before returning to Keflavik Airport. Drop off your car and check in for your flight home.
