Itinerary

Arrive in the vibrant city of Sydney famed for its world-class landmarks, from the majestic Harbour Bridge to the iconic Opera House. Spend your first day at leisure, perhaps wandering through stylish cafés, bustling markets and boutique-lined streets, or simply unwinding on one of the city’s many beautiful beaches.

Spend your day exploring Sydney. You may choose to visit the Australian Maritime Museum, home to a remarkable replica of Captain Cook’s HMS Endeavour, or explore one of the city’s excellent art galleries. An optional twilight harbour cruise offers a magical end to your day.

The Rocks Walking Tour, Sydney

The oldest part of Sydney's settlement, the Rocks was inhabited by the first fleet of convicts arriving in Sydney Cove in 1788, impacting forever the way of life of the local indigenous people and setting the foundations for what would become an intriguing and cosmopolitan city.

Collect your motorhome and head down the coast to Jervis Bay. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Booderee National Park and calm, clear waters, Jervis Bay is full of native wildlife and stunning spots to explore. With its white-sand beaches, peaceful lagoons, hidden coves and little creeks, it’s perfect for all kinds of water activities.

Drive south through the pretty coastal towns of Narooma, Tilba Tilba and Bermagui before reaching Eden, situated on stunning Twofold Bay. In the spring, you may spot migrating humpback whales. Explore Beowa National Park, where excellent walking trails lead to impressive coastal views from Green Cape Lighthouse.

Travel via Orbost, Bellbird Creek and Nowa Nowa to Lakes Entrance, a peaceful destination surrounded by water and natural beauty.

Enjoy a leisurely day exploring Lakes Entrance, taking in its scenic lookouts, picturesque foreshore and relaxed coastal atmosphere.

Continue through the enchanting Gippsland Lakes region, Australia’s largest inland water system. The area offers striking beaches, forested hinterland and a chance to spot native wildlife such as dolphins, kangaroos and koalas. Arrive on Phillip Island, where you may choose to witness the famous ‘penguin parade’ – a remarkable wildlife spectacle in which a large colony of little penguins returns from the sea each evening and waddles up the beach to their nests in the sand dunes.

Travel to Mornington Peninsula, one of Victoria’s finest coastal retreats, known for artisan markets, galleries and charming villages. The Peninsula is also one of Australia’s finest wine producing regions.

Take the short drive to Melbourne today. This arty city is renowned for its laid-back atmosphere and culinary scene.

Spend the day exploring Melbourne’s lively laneways, exceptional shopping and stylish cafés. Should you wish for a quieter pace, the Fitzroy Gardens and Royal Botanic Gardens provide a serene escape. The city hosts some of the world’s most celebrated sporting events and has a distinctly multicultural character.

Nestled in a glorious bushland setting and with the largest collection of Australian native wildlife in the world, Healesville Sanctuary provides the ultimate Australian wildlife experience.

Wilsons Promontory National Park Tour, Melbourne

“The Prom” as it is favourably known to locals is a haven for birders and hikers, with unspoilt white sand beaches, abundant wildlife and breath-taking scenery.

Travel to the scenic Cape Otway today. Along the way stop at Apollo Bay, a picturesque little fishing port with beautiful beaches and a relaxed seaside feel. If time allows you may like to visit the Bass Strait Shell Museum or follow the road to Mariners Lookout for sweeping views of the ocean and surrounding landscape.

Enjoy a full day exploring Cape Otway. Wander through lush rainforest, visit dramatic waterfalls or experience the Otway Fly treetop walk. Don’t miss the historic Cape Otway Lightstation, built in 1848 and perched high above the Bass Strait – fondly nicknamed the ‘Beacon of Hope’.

Continue along the iconic Great Ocean Road, passing its most famous natural wonders – the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and London Bridge. Further along the coast at Warrnambool, a well-positioned viewing platform offers excellent whale-watching opportunities between late May and August. Arrive in Port Fairy, a seaside resort and fishing town with a rich maritime heritage.

Follow the coastal route to Mt Gambier, with the option to detour through Mt Richmond National Park or Cape Nelson. Mt Gambier, set on an extinct volcano, is home to the striking Blue Lake, which famously transforms from misty grey to vivid blue each November.

Travel to the historic town of Robe via Millicent. Founded in 1847, Robe retains much of its 19th-century charm. A visit to Little Dip Conservation Park, just a short distance away, is highly recommended.

Drive north to the stunning Barossa Valley, home to world-renowned wineries such as Wolf Blass and Jacob’s Creek. This fertile region is dotted with orchards, charming churches and historic cottages. For sweeping views across the valley, a visit to Mengler Hill is highly recommended.

Take a short drive back to Adelaide this morning, where your motorhome adventure comes to an end.
