Overview

This unique experience, available only for 2023, offers the chance to dine at the 2-Star Michelin restaurant KOKS located on the edge of Disko Bay. As well as enjoying world class cuisine with a distinctly Greenlandic flavour, you’ll also have time to cruise amongst the dazzling icebergs of the UNESCO Ilulissat Icefjord and hike to the former settlement of Sermermiut for dramatic views over the ice.

Travel to Greenland’s remote west coast for an overnight stay in the town of Ilulissat, perched on the shores of Disko Bay. Ilulissat is best known for its UNESCO World Heritage Listed Icefjord, which is filled with mighty icebergs that calve frequently from the fast-moving Sermeq Kujalleq glacier.

A guided hike to Sermermiut offers breathtaking views over the icy water, as well as the chance to discover the archaeological remains of this former Inuit settlement which was abandoned in 1850.

A scenic boat trip across the fjord provides a closer view of some of the intricate ice structures, and will take you to beautiful Ilimanaq Lodge for the night. Here you have time to settle in to your private cabin overlooking the ocean, before making your way to the 2-Star Michelin restaurant KOKS for dinner.

Temporarily located in one of the oldest houses in Greenland, this restaurant from the Faroes will be spending a second summer at Ilimanaq Lodge in 2023. Under the direction of award-winning Head Chef Poul Andrias Ziska, the menu will enhance the unique flavours of Greenland with a gourmet flair. Your stay at Ilimanaq will include an exquisite tasting menu dinner, as well as breakfast at KOKS. There will be time to explore the Lodge and its surrounds during the morning, before returning by boat to Ilulissat.

Another overnight stay in Ilulissat allows the opportunity to visit the newly-opened ‘Kangiata Illorsua’ Ilulissat Icefjord Centre. This excellent visitors centre features a ‘Tale of the Ice’ exhibition which provides fascinating insights into the history of ice, the culture in and around the Icefjord, and the impact of climate change on Greenland’s ice cap.

Your Greenland adventure starts and ends with an overnight stay in Copenhagen, Denmark’s colourful capital.

Itinerary

Make your way to Denmark’s attractive capital city for an overnight stay. The remainder of the day is free to explore at leisure – take in the sights or enjoy a leisurely dinner overlooking the water at Nyhavn.

Make your way to the airport for your flight to Ilulissat. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Hotel Arctic for an overnight stay. This afternoon you’ll join a guided hike to the archaeological site of Sermermiut, which was formerly home to Saqqaq, Early Dorset and Thule cultures.

Today you will be transferred by boat to Ilimanaq Lodge. During your cruise you’ll encounter spectacular icebergs and perhaps hear the heartstopping thunder as fresh bergs calve from the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier. On arrival check in to your private oceanview bungalow-style cabin before making your way to KOKS restaurant. A tasting menu dinner is included tonight.

After breakfast at KOKS you will return by boat to Ilulissat, where the remainder of the day is at leisure. A visit to the ‘Kangiata Illorsua’ Ilulissat Icefjord Centre is highly recommended for an informative look at the area’s unique natural history.

Depart Greenland today on your flight back to Denmark, where you will spend a final night at an airport hotel.
