Christmas Markets
Helsinki’s Christmas markets capture the pure magic of a Finnish winter, cosy, and full of Nordic charm. The city’s main market, held in Senate Square, unfolds beneath the majestic white cathedral, where rows of wooden stalls glow softly in the snow. Visitors can browse over a hundred local vendors offering handmade crafts, Finnish design items, and seasonal treats, all surrounded by the scent of pine, cinnamon, and freshly baked pastries.
Culinary delights are at the heart of the experience: enjoy karjalanpiirakka (Karelian pies), lohisoppa (salmon soup), roasted almonds, and steaming mugs of glögi, Finland’s version of mulled wine. Families can meet Santa Claus, while couples and friends soak up the atmosphere of twinkling lights and festive music drifting through the crisp winter air.
Beyond Senate Square, smaller neighbourhood markets and indoor design fairs add their own modern Finnish flair, combining sustainability with style.

Take a day trip by ferry to Tallinn’s Christmas Market, often hailed as one of Europe’s most enchanting, set in the heart of the medieval Town Hall Square. With its cobblestone streets, fairy-tale architecture, and the scent of spiced mulled wine in the air, the Estonian capital feels like it was made for Christmas. Snow often blankets the city’s red rooftops, adding to the market’s storybook charm. From 21 November to 28 December 2025.
