Full description

From the thunderous roar of Victoria Falls, via Zimbabwe's largest and oldest national park, Hwange, and back to the mighty Zambezi again as it flows through Mana Pools National Park, this three-centre fly-in safari showcases the best of Zimbabwe’s diverse landscapes and prolific wildlife.

Your holiday starts with a 2-night stay at Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world. A guided tour (included) gives you the opportunity to explore the Falls from both sides, Zimbabwe and Zambia, delivering unrivalled views of the world’s largest waterfall. Time is also available for an optional sightseeing flight over Victoria Falls.

From here it’s a short flight to the south-eastern corner of Hwange National Park, your home for the next 3 nights. Hwange is Zimbabwe’s oldest and largest park, best known for its huge population of elephants, but there is plenty of other wildlife to discover too.

Your final stop is Mana Pools National Park, in the north of Zimbabwe. Staying on the edge of the Zambezi River, which marks a natural border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, here you can canoe or cruise on the river, search for hippos and wild dogs, or spend a night on a star bed under the vast African skies.

Itinerary & Accommodation

Itinerary & Accommodation

Day 1: Arrive at Victoria Falls

Upon arrival in Zimbabwe you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore Victoria Falls Town, which sits on the southern bank of the Zambezi River.

Day 2: Victoria Falls

At 1,700 metres (5 600 ft.) wide and 108 metres (360 ft.) high, Victoria Falls creates a plume of spray that can be seen up to 30kms away. The indigenous name Mosi-oa-Tunya translates as ‘The Smoke that Thunders’, a fitting description for the world's largest sheet of falling water. A half-day tour of the Falls is included today, starting in the Zimbabwe rainforest where your guide will provide a brief history of the Falls themselves as well as talking about the flora, fauna and other points of interest. You will then cross the border into Zambia (visa required*) to continue your exploration of Victoria Falls from the other side, before returning to Zimbabwe at the end of the tour.

Day 3: Victoria Falls – Hwange National Park

This morning you will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport for your 50 minute flight by light aircraft to Hwange National Park. Keep your camera handy for breath-taking aerial views over Zimbabwe. On arrival in Hwange you will be transferred to your accommodation by safari vehicle, offering the chance for wildlife sightings along the way.

Days 4-5: Hwange National Park

Your lodge is located in the private Linkwasha concession in the southeastern corner of Hwange National Park. From here you will explore a varied landscape of grassy plains, woodlands, vleis and valleys, home to a high concentration of wildlife including one of the world’s largest populations of elephants; around 45,000 are believed to inhabit Hwange. Game drives are included in your stay and may also reveal buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, wild dog, wildebeest, sable and more. With 2 full days here you may also wish to join other activities such as night drives, guided walks and cultural experiences.

Day 6: Hwange National Park – Mana Pools National Park

Enjoy a final chance to see game as you make your way back to the airstrip for your onward flight to Mana Pools National Park (1 hour 30 flight time). You will fly over the immense Lake Kariba, the world’s largest man-made lake at 280kms long by 40kms wide. On arrival in Mana Pools you will enjoy a short game drive to your accommodation.

Days 7-8: Mana Pools National Park

Spend two full days based in a large private concession in the heart of the Zambezi Valley’s Mana Pools National Park. The floodplains and forests that surround the Zambezi River attract a wealth of wildlife such as hippo, wild dog, buffalo, elephant, kudu, zebra, waterbuck, lion, and leopard. During your stay in the park a choice of activities is included, ranging from game drives, boat cruises and guided walks to canoeing, photography and the chance to sleep out under the stars. You can even try your hand at catching a tiger fish (additional cost, catch and release). At the end of each day return to your accommodation, from where you can enjoy views of the river, woodlands and the mountains of the Rift Valley escarpment.

Day 9: Mana Pools - Harare

Bid farewell and take the short drive back to the airstrip for a flight to Harare Airport (included), and your onward journey.
