Overview

Alaska’s Inside Passage is truly breathtaking, and there’s no better way to experience it than from the water! This expedition-style cruise is designed with families and young adventurers in mind, promising an unforgettable journey into Alaska’s wild and remote backcountry, with plenty of fun and adventures along the way.

Sail through secluded fjords and untouched bays, taking in the wildlife against a backdrop of towering mountains, dense forests, and ancient glaciers. Look out for humpback and orca whales, moose, bears, and even the occasional wolf. Gaze up, and you might spot bald eagles and seabirds soaring overhead. The friendly onboard expedition team will be on hand to guide, educate, entertain and make your trip extraordinary.

The relaxed pace of the cruise means you’ll have lots of time to explore – whether it’s kayaking past towering icebergs, heading off on a guided nature walk, or spotting whales and bears right from the deck. Your children will get the opportunity to make new friends, try new activities, and gain a new perspective on the world. Enjoy the ultimate Alaskan experience whilst sharing incredible moments with your family.

Itinerary

All voyage itineraries are intended as a guideline only – embracing the unexpected is part of the legacy of expedition travel. Actual routes and landings will be flexible to take advantage of wildlife sightings, weather conditions, tides and the interests of the group.

Embark your vessel this afternoon, where you will meet your crew and get settled before you set sail.

Today, young explorers will learn about nature with expert guides as you soak up the beauty of Hobart Bay. Perhaps begin the day with a refreshing kayak trip or join a guided hike to discover the hidden wonders of the local flora and fauna. In the afternoon, set off on a skiff ride for a close-up view of the bay’s breathtaking glaciers and the chance to spot eagles soaring overhead. As the day draws to a close, gather on deck for wildlife watching. Perhaps enjoy a photo-sharing session in the lounge or hear a fascinating talk from the knowledgeable guides.

Your journey today centres on the mesmerising ebb and flow of the tides. Take in the breathtaking LeConte Glacier, the southernmost tidewater glacier in the Northern Hemisphere, set amidst a truly spectacular landscape. You won’t find any massive cruise ships here; the entrance to this enchanting fjord is far too shallow for them to navigate. Spend most of the day exploring by kayak or small boat. There may be the chance to go ashore and wander among icebergs stranded along the beach.

You hear it before you see it – a mighty rush of water cascading through the forest in a series of waterfalls known as Cascade Creek. This is one of the rare accessible trails in Southeast Alaska. After your woodland adventure, return to the ship and sail to the far side of Thomas Bay. Here, round off your day with a kayak to a salmon run or a skiff tour in search of bears.

Today is all about discovering the incredible marine life that thrives in the bay’s waters. The Kuiu Wilderness, tucked away in Alaska’s Alexander Archipelago within the Tongass National Forest, is a stunningly remote and untouched gem. You’ll likely spot an amazing range of sea life, from humpback whales and Steller sea lions to porpoises, dolphins, pelagic birds, seals, and more. You might even have the chance to kayak or join a guided skiff tour to get a closer look at hidden coves and the rugged coastline.

Embark on a quest to spot the elusive Coastal Brown Bear along this dramatic and untamed coastline. The eastern side of Chichagof Island boasts three particular areas renowned for exceptional bear sightings. Your captain, drawing on his expertise, will position you in the best possible location, which varies day by day. This adventure may also include the chance to go ashore for a hike, explore by kayak, or take a skiff ride. With a thriving bear population in the region, the chances of an unforgettable encounter are high.

The crown jewel of America’s national parks, Glacier Bay covers a staggering 3.3 million acres. By travelling on a small ship you’ll have the opportunity to delve further than most visitors, with the opportunity to hike the outwash field of glaciers down the Fairweather Mountain Range.

Enjoy a final breakfast on board before disembarking the ship this morning back in Juneau.
