Overview

Nestled between the Oslofjord and forested hills, Oslo is the oldest of the Scandinavian capitals and offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, modern architecture, and rich cultural heritage. The city’s laid-back atmosphere, attractive architecture, spacious streets, and picturesque squares create an inviting setting for exploration and relaxation.

Whether you’re strolling through the historic city centre, visiting cutting-edge museums that reflect Norway’s colourful history, or simply taking in the breath taking views of the fjord, Oslo promises a refreshing and inspiring escape. With a vibrant selection of restaurants, bars, and cafés, you’ll be spoilt for choice at every turn.

Christmas Markets

Oslo comes alive with festive spirit each winter as the Spikersuppa Christmas Market transforms the city centre into a cosy winter wonderland. Located between the National Theatre and Karl Johans gate, the market captures the essence of a Norwegian Christmas, simple, natural, and heart-warming.

Wooden cabins line the paths, selling handmade gifts, woollen knits, and local delicacies. The scent of roasted almonds and freshly baked pastries fills the air, while steaming cups of gløgg (mulled wine) keep visitors warm. Try traditional treats such as reindeer sausages, lefse (sweet flatbread), and Norwegian waffles, best enjoyed by the ice-skating rink in the centre of the market.

In true Scandinavian style, the decorations are elegant and festive; pine garlands, twinkling fairy lights, and glowing lanterns create a magical atmosphere against the crisp winter backdrop. Families, couples, and friends gather to enjoy live music, children’s rides, and the feeling of hygge that defines Norwegian winter life.

Finish your day with a relaxing dinner at one of the many inviting restaurants along the scenic waterfront.
