Overview
Sweeping glaciers, narrow fjords and mountain peaks punctuated with small settlements charactise the stunning scenery of this small-ship voyage along the West Greenland coast in the company of presenter and adventurer Ben Fogle. Witness the vast icebergs of Disko Bay, visit Ilulissat, the fourth largest town in Greenland, learn about Inuit culture and watch out for whales in the fjords. Travelling in late summer the days are still long ideal for exploring, but there is also the possibility of seeing the aurora at night.
The 6-day voyage embarks in Kanglerlussuaq located at the head of the fjord of the same, at 160km, one of the longest in Greenland. Journey to the colourful town of Sisimiut then onto Disko Bay where you have the chance to meet the locals of Qeqertarsuaq settlement over coffee and cake, a tradition called "Kaffemik".
Sail onwards to Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO-protected bay filled with majestic icebergs. Explore the town and perhaps choose to take a scenic fixed-wing flight over the fjord (at additional cost).
Return south along the coast visiting the settlement of Sarfannguit before disembarking in Kanglerlussuaq. Once back on land you have the opportunity to visit the inland icecap (at additional cost) before the return flight to Copenhagen.

You will be accompanied on the voyage by presenter and adventurer, Ben Fogle who will give up to three exclusive talks and a question-and-answer session, as well joining you on an the included excursions during your trip.

Ben Fogle has presented numerous programmes for the BBC, ITV, Channel 5 and Discovery, worked as a special correspondent for NBC News, and made documentaries on Prince William in Africa and Captain Scott in Antarctica. He has written nine bestselling books, including Race To The Pole and The Accidental Adventurer, and is the United Nations patron of the wilderness, a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and ambassador to WWF, Tusk and Hearing Dogs For The Deaf, as well as a patron to the Red Cross.

Day 1 arrive Copenhagen
Fly to Copenhagen and spend the rest of the day exploring this beautiful Scandinavian capital. Overnight in the city.

Day 2 Copenhagen - Kangerlussuaq and embarkation
Take a morning flight from Copenhagen to Kangerlussuaq in west Greenland. On arrival transfer to the port and then by zodiac to the ship, the M/V Ocean Atlantic. After a safety drill enjoy dinner whilst sailing through 160-kilometre Kangerlussuaq fjord.

Day 3 Visit the town of Sisimiut
In the morning arrive in the colourful and modern town of Sisimiut at the foot of Nasaasaaq Mountain. The second largest in Greenland, Sisimiut has 5,400 inhabitants. Take a tour of the city visiting the historic colonial quarter, as well as the museum and church. In the afternoon continue northbound passing the Sisimiut Isortuat Fjord, the Nordre Strømfjord settlements of Attu and Ikerasaarsuk and the small town of Kangaatsiaq. Overnight pass Aasiaat and sail into the southern waters of Disko Bay.

Wander around the town of Qeqertarsuaq and join some of the locals for a traditional "Kaffemik" to sample homemade cakes with coffee and tea, accompanied by local music and dance. In the afternoon continue to the breathtakingly beautiful Eqip Sermia Glacier and observe icebergs calving off this enormous icecap.

Arrive at the town of Ilulissat where gigantic icebergs flow down the UNESCO-protected icefjord to the bay. Take a half-hour hike to the Icefjord, located south of the town. There is also an opportunity to take an optional 2.5 hour boat trip (additional cost) around the icefjord to get up close to the amazing ice-sculpted scenery. Alternatively take a scenic flight on a fixed wing plane (additional cost) over the glacier and the icefjord.

M/V Ocean Atlantic
With a maximum of 198 passengers, the M/V Ocean Atlantic has been specifically designed for expedition cruising, with observation platforms and panorama lounges. With an international ice class rating of 1B, she is one of the strongest ships operating in polar waters. She carries a fleet of 20 Zodiacs for shore landings.
Renovated in 2016, the restaurant serves 4-star international cuisine and there is a lecture theatre, library, gym, sauna, pool and Jacuzzi.
