Natalie joined Discover the World in May 2012 from a specialist Iceland tour operator where she worked for 6 years. Natalie was lucky enough to travel most of Iceland’s ring road at her previous company and since joining Discover The World has also visited Norway, Sweden and Finland. She is now specialising in these destinations but still dabbles in Iceland! Natalie enjoys most helping clients put together the perfect itinerary, sharing her knowledge and top travel tips. She also enjoys travelling in her spare time and is hoping to visit New Zealand one day!

  • Spotting a blue whale from Husavik in North Iceland
  • Sleeping like a baby on ice at the magnificent Icehotel
  • Viewing the Northern Lights in North Norway – amazing!
  • A smoke sauna in Finland and then a roll in the snow!
  • Snowmobiling on Langjokull glacier in Iceland
  • Husky sledding at the Icehotel through the snow covered forest

My Favourite Place

The Lofoten Islands are absolutely stunning and have to be my favourite place to visit. Steeped in history and traditional ways this is where you go for a slice of true Norwegian life. Travelling around by car you will not believe how beautiful this area is with mountains jutting out of the sea covered in snow and fish hanging out to dry around every corner. I was lucky enough to visit during March and had my first elusive aurora borealis sighting – truly memorable! An abundance of winter activities are available including huskies, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. Whale watching and sea eagle spotting tours are also available during the summer and this area has beaches that rival those of the Caribbean! The traditional rorbur cabins which were used mostly by fisherman in years gone by are now cosy accommodation cabins with amazing views over the sea. Offering delicious food, scenery and friendly locals, Lofoten should be on everyone’s bucket list!
