Iceland Students Gir Gullfoss

As the last groups safely returned home in November, our team celebrated another incredible departure period. October is always a busy time here at DTWE but this particular travel period was our busiest to date.

We transported 101 school groups around the world on amazing trips – that’s just under 4000 passengers!

As well every geographers’ favourite destination, Iceland, we also sent groups to Italy, Norway, China and the Azores.

In the spirit of celebration, we are sharing what some of our lovely teachers had to say after their travels…

“This was an actioned packed trip from start to end! Really well planned and value for money.”

Ms Humphrey, Deputy Head Teacher

“Having visited the attractions of the ‘Golden Circle’ previously, we were all amazed by the rugged beauty and desertion of the Snaefellsness Peninsula. We will definitely include it again on any future trips to Iceland.”

Ms Ahmed, Head of Geography

“I was delighted with the trip. Our students experienced an incredible range of culture and volcanic sites in a short time. Every day offered a new ‘wow’ experience, from ascending vulcano’s crator, to mud bubbling mud maths, to incredible cannoli and gelato. The sun shone, Sicily was beautiful. Thank you!”

Rebecca Veisa, my contact prior to going on the trip was quite simply AMAZING! She was so helpful with any questions I had and was very quick and easy to get in touch with. She was very friendly and understanding and helpful of everything we needed.”

“The best thing about DTWE is how easy it makes the life of the trip leader/teachers. We had a very well-planned itinerary so we could get the most out of the every day, a great range of activities and an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly guide. We all especially liked the whale watching, swimming in thermal pools and the long walk through the forest to the waterfall. Looking forward to planning our next trip!”

“When I first starting planning the trip I had never been to Iceland before, however the helpful and knowledgeable staff at Discover the World Education and the free teacher inspection visit meant that I was able to lead the trip with confidence and give the students a trip they will never forget!”

“We had the most amazing trip. This was my first big international trip and Discover the World have been nothing but brilliant in their support. They have helped at every stage from the launch, to the planning to the amendments and the excursion. The staff have been so friendly and helpful.

The trip itself was brilliant. The itinerary had been planned to my exact requirements and every day was filled with adventures. Steph our Teacher Tour Leader was informative, supportive and funny. The students loved her. I would definitely use the company again.”

Geography Trip to Iceland
Ms Taylor, Geography Teacher

“The trip was incredible. The students were amazed by all the geographical features. Our itinerary was full and gave us the best experience we could have in the time that we had. We were blessed with great weather and the northern lights as a result of the clear skies. All our students agreed that it was the best school trip they have ever been on. Iceland never fails to amaze and inspire. We will definitely be coming again. Thank you Discover The World Education!”

Geography Trip to Iceland
Ms Hyslop, Geography Teacher

“The children were amazed to stand in complete darkness in the Lava Tunnel, they really enjoyed the Ice Cave and the Lava Museum was very informative with interactive screens. They thought the planetarium at the Perlan Museum was incredible and the interactive screens to show the site of each volcano were great fun. A real bonus was the appearance of the Northern Lights, the children were thrilled.”

Ms Brighting, Geography Teacher

“Our first trip to Iceland was fantastic and couldn’t have been easier from a staff point of view. Our local guide was able to advise us throughout, making adjustments to our itinerary to suit our needs, and the changing weather conditions. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be booking with DTW again. I’m excited to hear suggestions of how to make the most out of the time and budget available to ensure another amazing trip.”
