Covid Assurance

Entry requirements:

We understand that the UK government plans to double vaccinate all children aged 12 -18. If that has not been facilitated by 6 weeks before your departure date, and the entry requirements for your destination require children to be fully vaccinated, you can choose to postpone, or you can choose to cancel and will receive a full refund (in some cases you may lose your flight deposit, see below).

Currently, some of our destinations are not permitting the entry of school groups, if that remains the case 6 weeks before your departure date, you can choose to postpone or you will be able to receive a full refund (in some cases you may lose your flight deposit, see below).

For now, we have outlined how the destination entry requirements will affect your Covid Assurance cover, see below:

Please note: If you are travelling from outside the UK, then please speak to your Travel Specialist at the time of booking and we will agree a personalised Covid Assurance based on your group’s entry requirements and testing costs.

Iceland
What is the current situation?

Iceland is currently expecting anyone born in the year 2004 or earlier to be double vaccinated in order to enter. Children born in the year 2005 or later are not required to have the vaccination. Although currently school groups are not permitted into Iceland unless all group members are fully vaccinated, we anticipate that these restrictions will have eased by the time you travel. We are working closely with the relevant authorities in Iceland to try to change these restrictions.

Therefore, our Covid Assurance will protect all school groups based on the assumptions that the same age-based rules will apply.

Covid Assurance cover if you are born 2004 or earlier

We expect that groups will become able to be fully vaccinated in line with government recommendations, therefore if the UK government have facilitated the vaccination of travellers born 2004 or earlier, and some members of the group have chosen not to be vaccinated they will not be covered by our Covid Assurance.

Covid Assurance cover if you are born 2005 or later

As we have based the assurance on the assumption that UK children born 2005 and later will be able to enter Iceland unvaccinated on a school trip, our Covid Assurance will cover unvaccinated children born in the year 2005 or later.

This means that;

  • If Iceland changes this entry requirement and children born 2005 or later need to be vaccinated, meaning your entire group is affected, then we will look to postpone your trip or give you a refund (in some cases you may lose your flight deposit, see below)
  • If the UK government have facilitated the double vaccination of only some of your group and you still want the trip to go ahead, we will work with you to get the right price for the remainder of your group and if this isn’t possible we will offer you a deferral. Any students that have to drop out will receive a deposit refund
The Azores
What is the current situation?

Currently, you can enter the Azores without having had any vaccinations. Anyone over the age of 18 will need to be double vaccinated in order to avoid having to self-isolate upon return to the UK. Any unvaccinated passengers will be required to take a test in order to enter.

When booking a trip with us, our Covid Assurance will apply to these rules, therefore you will receive a full refund (in some cases you may lose your flight deposit, see below) if the Azores change their entry requirements and passengers are required to be vaccinated.

Mallorca
What is the current situation?

Currently, you can enter Mallorca without having had any vaccinations. Anyone over the age of 18 will need to be double vaccinated in order to avoid having to self-isolate upon return to the UK. Any unvaccinated passengers will be required to take a test in order to enter.

Norway
What is the current situation?

Norway is currently expecting anyone over the age of 18 to be double vaccinated in order to enter. Children under 18 are not required to have the vaccination. Although currently school groups are not permitted into Norway, we anticipate that these restrictions will have eased by the time you travel.

Therefore, we will be covering all school groups based on the assumptions that the same age-based rules will apply.

Covid Assurance cover for over 18s

As the UK government has facilitated the vaccination of everyone over 18, if some members of the group have not been double vaccinated they will not be covered by our Covid Assurance.

Covid Assurance cover for under 18s

As we have based the assurance on the assumption that children under the age of 18 will be able to enter Norway unvaccinated, our Covid Assurance will cover unvaccinated children under the age of 18.

This means that;

  • If Norway requires under 18s to be vaccinated on a school trip, meaning your entire group is affected, then we will look to postpone your trip or give you a refund (in some cases you may lose your flight deposit, see below)
  • If the UK government have facilitated the double vaccination of only some of your group and you still want the trip to go ahead, we will work with you to get the right price for the remainder of your group. Any students that have to drop out will receive a deposit refund

The situation in Montenegro is evolving, we will update as soon as we have complete clarity on the requirements for school groups.

Italy
What is the current situation?

Italy is currently expecting anyone over the age of 18 to be double vaccinated in order to enter. Children under 18 are not required to have the vaccination. Although currently school groups are not permitted into Italy, we anticipate that these restrictions will have eased by the time you travel.

Therefore, we will be covering all school groups based on the assumptions that the same age-based rules will apply.

Covid Assurance cover for over 18s

As the UK government has facilitated the vaccination of everyone over 18, if some members of the group have  not been vaccinated they will not be covered by our Covid Assurance.

Covid Assurance cover for under 18s

As we have based the assurance on the assumption that children under the age of 18 will be able to enter Italy unvaccinated, our Covid Assurance will currently cover unvaccinated children under the age of 18.

This means that;

  • If Italy requires under 18s to be vaccinated on a school trip, meaning your entire group is affected, then we will look to postpone your trip or give you a refund (in some cases you may lose your flight deposit, see below).
  • If the UK government have facilitated the double vaccination of only some of your group and you still want the trip to go ahead, we will work with you to get the right price for the remainder of your group. Any students that have to drop out will receive a deposit refund.

Additional reasons for cancelling:

We will also provide you with a full refund for the following reasons:

  • FCDO advising against all but essential travel to your destination
  • Department for Education ban on overseas trips
  • A quarantine upon arrival in your trip destination
  • Quarantine is in place in your home country for those arriving from your trip destination
  • National or regional lockdown restrictions which prevent your group from travelling
  • If social distancing regulations would make group travel infeasible
  • If local legislation is in place at your destination which hinders the primary reason for your trip

The situation is constantly evolving, therefore these reasons can change in the lead up to your trip. We understand that you still need time to organise and plan and for that reason, we will look to make a final decision about cancellation by 21 days before your departure date.

Flight Deposits:

We have worked with our suppliers to be able to offer you as much flexibility as possible. This means that if you have to, or decide to cancel, we will be able to offer you a refund. The only exception to this flexibility is with flights. That said, your financial security is very important to us, therefore we have the following assurances in place;

  • If you have booked with Icelandair, Play, Wizz or Jet2 we will cover the cost of your deposit and therefore give you a full refund, including flights
  • If you are flying with BA you will be charged a small cancellation fee of £40pp
  • If you are flying with Norwegian you will be charged a small cancellation fee of £75pp
  • If you have booked with another airline, particularly low budget airlines like EasyJet, we will have to offer less flexibility as we have to commit to the full cost of the flight at the time of booking, which is non-refundable to us. Therefore, you will not get a refund on the cost of your flights
  • If the FCDO advises against “all but essential travel” leading to your flight being cancelled you will receive a full refund

Covid-19 Testing:

We are pleased to announce that for new bookings we will include the cost of testing as part of your school trip, as long as schools meet the following requirements;

  • All passengers have been vaccinated in line with destination entry requirements, if the UK Government permits it. Additional test costs incurred due to missed vaccinations will need to be covered by the traveller
  • Schools have paid their deposit after 11th May 2021, for a school trip in 2022

Due to the constantly evolving situation, all operational details on the actual process of getting tested will be discussed between you and your dedicated Travel Specialist and will be dependent on the process in place at the time of travel. All other aspects of the Covid Assurance still apply.

Costs of testing are included for school group bookings only, not for Teacher Inspection Visits.
