Discover the World Woodland

Education Starts at Home

We believe in practicing what we preach. With our Discover the World: School Woodland Project we have partnered with Greener Growth (a community interest company) to plant new woodlands and rewild school land.

Funded by our donations, and the schools we work with, the journey starts by sourcing young heritage native trees from prison nurseries. These trees are cultivated by prisoners committed to caring for them as part of their rehabilitation and developing personal skills through meaningful work.

The story continues as these tiny seedlings are planted and nurtured, transforming green spaces and breathing new life into neglected land in schools across the UK. Through tree planting days, we unite with students, parents, and the dedicated Greener Growth team to shape these spaces together, creating thriving woodlands for future generations.

By planting heritage woodlands, we are not just adding greenery – we’re restoring ecosystems. By growing native trees, we help to rebuild vital habitats for local wildlife, support soil health, and improve air and water quality. The process of rewilding through heritage woodlands is a step towards healing the land, ensuring that future generations inherit a healthier, more balanced natural environment.

And as the project continues to grow, it’s clear that the journey is not just about planting trees but about developing people across communities. For the students, these wonderfully wild spaces grow alongside them starting with sensory escapisms, bug hotel competitions and moving to geography fieldwork and real-world science. Most importantly, they reveal how nurturing nature can foster personal growth, unite diverse communities, and transform lives. In the process, we see not only the seeds of trees take root, but the seeds of change planted in every individual involved.

How can you donate?

Corporate emissions

When you book your school trip with us, you can choose to compensate for the carbon emissions produced. Each tree costs £25 per student and mitigates one tonne of CO2 over its lifetime (one trip to Iceland can release half a tonne of CO2, that’s double the impact!).

Greener growth will calculate your carbon emissions and how many trees needed to reduce your carbon footprint. In addition to the tree planting project, Greener Growth will support you with consultations to help develop your project. This includes supporting biodiversity, knowledge of planting formations, and assistance in protecting your woodland in the future. You’ll also have access to FREE teaching resources that link directly to the geography syllabus and encourage environmental awareness in schools.

Greener Growth also offers additional projects like habitat havens, small wildlife ponds, nuttery, fencing options, and even rainwater capturing tanks to assist your students’ annual fieldwork requirements.

Why you should opt in:

  • To help students learn about carbon emissions, carbon offsetting and the different variety of carbon offsetting projects
  • Raise awareness about how to travel responsibly and see it as a force for good
  • Educate students on the importance of growing native vegetation to enhance environments and improve bio-diversity
  • So you’re choosing a provider that reduces their carbon deficit
  • Allow your school and community to be part of meaningful and impactful tree-planting projects
  • Be supported through your tree planting or garden projects

A responsible approach to carbon compensating

Not all carbon compensating schemes are created equal.

Environmental activists warn that some trees planted in the name of carbon compensating don’t live a full life and are not native to the area where they’re growing.

Despite positive intentions, this can mean some companies are actually causing a negative impact through their scheme.

With this in mind, when choosing our partnership, we wanted something that we knew would have a lasting impact on our emissions and support our school community. Enter Greener Growth!

Take a step forward in reducing your schools carbon footprint by offsetting the emissions from your next trip.

Option 1: Plant trees in one of our dedicated woodlands

The simplest and most cost effective solution, is to purchase trees to be allocated to one of our dedicated woodlands.

Option 2: Plant trees in your own school

This allows you to plant your trees in your school grounds, or at a location of your choice. Whilst this option comes at additional cost, you’ll work with an expert consultant to tailor and design the project to you. To find out more, email info@greenergrowth.co.uk.
