Guided walking tour of Annecy

Fly to Geneva and travel to Annecy where you’ll meet your specialist Language School Tour Leader.

Start with a guided walking tour of Annecy. You’ll explore the maze of canals, the old town, medieval architecture and historical monuments. The tour is provided in French and can be adapted to suit the abilities of your class.

  • A Level: Regional identity and architecture; impact of tourism on heritage towns

Musée Château d’Annecy and the Palais de l’Île

Start with a tailored 2-hour language workshop at the IFALPES language school to prepare for the upcoming activities. 

Visit Musée Château d’Annecy. The museum’s collection of artwork, statues, and furnishings will give students an understanding of Annecy’s medieval past. Your local Language School Tour Leader will give key insights and encourage students to use key vocabulary. 

Next, visit Palais de l’Île. This medieval ship-shaped building is an iconic part of Annecy’s history and is now a listed monument. 

End the day with a game of pétanque where students can refine their technique and practice their French in a fun way.

Treasure hunt and boat trip on Lake Annecy

Kickstart your day with a fun treasure hunt activity to encourage students to explore and chat to the locals as they decipher clues. 

Next, it’s time for an exciting boat trip on Lake Annecy. As you cruise over the sparkling alpine waters, your Language School Tour Leader will provide French commentary and you’ll learn how the lake formed and how it supports the local economy. 

Spend the evening watching a film at the language school. This is a great way for students to test their comprehension skills and learn new phrases.

4

Lakeside cycle and cheese tasting workshop

Explore Lake Annecy’s waterfront by bike. With wide, flat cycling paths around it’s shore, students can exercise in the fresh mountain air and get close to the iconic buildings and landmarks.

Next, discover the culinary specialties of Annecy with a cheese tasting workshop. Sample the region’s most well-known cheeses including Abondance, Beaufort, Chevrotin, Reblonchon, Raclette, Tomme.

Enjoy an evening of Board Game Olympics, a pedagogical activity where groups of students rotate around three or four different board games, competing in French to win points for their team while learning through fun and repetition.

Home

Transfer to Geneva for your flight home

 

Additional option (+£50pp): Late afternoon/evening flight home with the option to spend the day exploring Geneva. This includes walking tour of the city and the a guided tour of the International Museum of the Red Cross

Please note that the option for a later flight and the activities in Geneva are at a supplemental cost on top of the advertised trip price.
