1

Arrival & Walking Tour of Annecy

After travelling from Geneva Airport to Annecy, start with a walking tour led by a Language School Teacher. Students can discover the charming streets, picturesque canals and practice speaking French in a real-world setting.

  • A Level: Regional identity and architecture; impact of tourism on heritage towns

Language Workshops & Scenic Exploration

The morning begins with two 45-minute language workshops at the IFALPES Language School. Created with your group’s abilities in mind, your Language School Teachers will focus on skills that tie in with todays activities.

Set off on a boat trip on Lac d’Annecy, a pedagogical activity designed to encourage language use in a natural setting allowing students to engage in guided discussions about the lake to reinforce key vocabulary. 

Next, visit the Grotte et Cascade de Seythenex, a spectacular UNESCO Geosite where students will practice descriptive vocabulary as they explore caves and a waterfall.

Finish with dinner at a local restaurant.

3

Treasure hunt, Musée Château d’Annecy, Palais de l’Île & Cine Club

Begin with an interactive treasure hunt around Annecy that challenges students to use their French in a fun, immersive way while building comprehension, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Visit the Musée Château d’Annecy & Palais de l’Île, two iconic landmarks that offer a glimpse into the region’s rich history and architectural heritage. At the Palais de l’Île, students will explore its evolution from a prison to an administrative centre. 

Later, at IFALPES Language School’s Ciné Club, students watch a French film and join a guided discussion, building engagement with pop culture while developing confidence in understanding a plot without knowing every word.

4

Outdoor Activities & Culinary Delights

Begin with a bike tour by Lac d’Annecy, an active way to experience the stunning natural surroundings while practicing French through guided discussions about the environment and regional history.

Introduce students to local culinary traditions with a cheese and local produce tasting at IFALPES Language School. A great opportunity to expand vocabulary and sample new food! 

Enjoy an evening of Board Game Olympics, a pedagogical activity where groups of students rotate around three or four different board games, competing in French to win points for their team while learning through fun and repetition.

5

Adventure & Teamwork in the Alps

Start with kayaking on Lac d’Annecy, where students will follow French instructions and work together to navigate the waters and complete mini challenges. This activity encourages the use of directional vocabulary and teamwork communication.

Next is an orienteering challenge where students navigate trails using maps and clues in French, building comprehension and teamwork.

The day ends with an evening meal in Annecy, offering time for reflection and cultural exchange.

Exploring Geneva & Departure

Travel to Geneva for a guided walking tour exploring key landmarks such as the Red Cross Museum, highlighting cultural differences between France and Switzerland and the role of languages in global organisations and future careers.

Transfer to Geneva Airport for your flight home.
