Throughout your stay, a specialist Language School Tour Leader will guide students. 1

Arrival & Introduction to Annecy

Your journey begins as you arrive at Geneva Airport, where your group will be greeted and transferred by private coach to Annecy. 

Upon arrival, students will embark on a walking tour of Annecy, led by your Language School Teachers. This engaging pedagogical activity will encourage students to use their language skills in a real-world setting as they discover the charming streets and picturesque canals of this beautiful town. 

Through interactive challenges, students will be introduced to key French phrases and vocabulary in a natural and immersive environment. The day concludes with a group evening meal in the town, offering an opportunity for students to reflect on their first impressions of the region while practicing conversational French.

Language Workshops & Scenic Exploration

  • 2 x 45min Language workshop at Ifalpes

The morning begins with two back-to-back 45-minute language workshops at the IFALPES Language School. Created with your group’s abilities in mind, your Language School Teachers will focus on speaking, listening, and practical communication skills that students will then be able to put into practice with the activities that follow throughout the day. A great way to build confidence so they can put their learning into action in real time. 

Following the workshops, students will set off on a boat trip on Lac d’Annecy, a pedagogical activity designed to encourage language use in a natural setting. With stunning mountain views surrounding them, they will engage in guided discussions about the lake’s geography and history, reinforcing key vocabulary and expressions.  

The afternoon continues with a visit to the Grotte et Cascade de Seythenex, a spectacular UNESCO Geosite where students will practice descriptive vocabulary as they explore caves and a 45 m tall waterfall. The day concludes with an evening meal in Annecy, where your group can take in local gastronomy in an authentic setting.

Cultural Discovery & Interactive Learning

Today, students will participate in a treasure hunt, an interactive pedagogical activity that will challenge them to use their French language skills in a fun and engaging way. This immersive experience around Annecy town will help students develop their comprehension, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities. 

In the afternoon, the group will visit the Musée Château d’Annecy & Palais de l’Île, two iconic landmarks that offer a glimpse into the region’s rich history and architectural heritage. At the Palais de l’Île, a striking medieval structure set on a canal, students will explore its evolution from a prison to an administrative centre. 

Later, during Ciné Club at IFALPES Language School, they will watch a French film and participate in a guided discussion, a hugely effective way to engage in pop culture but also highlight students’ ability to understand and follow a plot without necessarily knowing every word. The day concludes with an evening meal in Annecy, providing an opportunity for further conversation and reflection.

Outdoor Activities & Culinary Delights

  • Bike tour by Lac d’Annecy

The day begins with a bike tour by Lac d’Annecy, an active way to experience the stunning natural surroundings while practicing French through guided discussions about the environment and regional history. Students will then participate in cheese and local produce tasting at IFALPES Language School, a pedagogical activity designed to introduce them to local culinary traditions. They will describe flavours, textures, and preferences in French, expanding their vocabulary and their minds as they try cheese they would have never tried before. 

The afternoon features the Board Game Olympics, a fun competition using classic French board games to reinforce vocabulary, strategic thinking, and interpersonal communication. This interactive session allows students to apply their language skills in a relaxed and entertaining way. The day concludes with an evening meal in Annecy, where students will continue practicing their conversational French in a social setting.

Adventure & Teamwork in the Alps

  • Kayaking in Annecy
  • Orienteering in the Alps

Today’s itinerary is designed to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience while reinforcing French language skills. The morning starts with kayaking on Lac d’Annecy, where students will follow French instructions and work together to navigate the waters and complete mini challenges. This activity encourages the use of directional vocabulary and teamwork communication, all while enjoying the clear waters, lakeside castles and villas, and the rugged mountain peaks that surround them. 

The afternoon takes the group into the breath taking Alpine landscape for an orienteering challenge. With maps and clues provided in French, students will work together to navigate trails, supporting their comprehension skills and ability to follow instructions. This thrilling experience provides a sense of accomplishment while showcasing the natural beauty of the region. The day concludes with an evening meal in Annecy, offering a final opportunity for cultural exchange and reflection.

Exploring Geneva & Departure

  • Walking Tour in Geneva (with Tourist Guide)
  • Transfer to Geneva Airport for your flight home

On your final day, the group will travel to Geneva for a walking tour, led by a knowledgeable tourist guide. Students will explore key historical and cultural landmarks like the Red Cross Museum. This is a great opportunity to explore the differences between France and Switzerland but also to show the value of languages in global organisations, giving students the context they need to see how languages can be used in future careers. 

Following the tour, your group will transfer to Geneva Airport for their return flight home, bringing their unforgettable language-learning adventure in Annecy to a close.
