Day

1

Arrive in Sicily & visit Cyclops Riviera

After seeing the beautiful Mediterranean and Ionian seas out of the aeroplane window on your approach to Catania, your students will be bursting to get closer to the blue waters.

Your trip begins on the dramatic coastline of the Cyclops Riviera. There are cliffs, caves, arches and stumps for your students to study and these coastal formations also have a unique mythological history, which your guide will explain during your visit.

Day

2

Mount Etna, Southern Flank Hike & Lava Cave 'Cassone'

Students will begin their ascent of Mount Etna via the cable car, where they will see brilliant panoramas of Catania below. The cable car will take them 2500 metre of the 3,000 metre mountain and the rest of the journey will be taken by 4×4 drive.

You’ll see Etna from a different angle in your next activity, a hike on Etna’s Southern Flank. Led by alpine guides, your group will learn about the history of the volcano and see first-hand how the lava flows have scarred the landscape and provided unique environments for various flora and fauna.

Day

3

Alcantara Gorge & Taormina

Visit the Alcantara Gorge, the canyon formed by an eruption from Mount Etna. Take a guided walk of the park and gorge, accompanied by a ranger, and see the 50 metre walls lined with basalt columns hinting to their volcanic story.

Your Sicily tour continues with a guided tour of the historic site of Taormina, a must-visit, especially for the view of Etna in the distance.

Day

4

Island of Vulcano

Today, visit the Island of Vulcano where you will ascend the Gran Cratera for a guided trek across vast peaks, craters, and active fumaroles.

Continue to Lipari Island. The volcanic activity is evidenced in fumarolic and hydrothermal activity in the West. You’ll see Mount Chirica, large central buildings of Monte Sant Angelo, and Lipari Town.

Day

5

Transfer to Airport

Wave goodbye to Sicily until your next trip!
