Karen Corfield, Teacher Tour Leader

A bit about me…

I was previously a Head of Geography at both preparatory and secondary schools, with experience of KS3, GCSE and A level geography teaching.

I taught for over 20 years, and was also Head of Geography plus Pastoral Deputy. I also led and organised many residential trips – activity, skiing plus geography – both overseas and within the UK. I have been involved in the writing and creating of itineraries to support the education and personal development of pupils in Iceland.

Why I love being a Teacher Tour Leader…

I am passionate about outdoor education, and Iceland – Iceland provides every aspect of geographical education. I absolutely love sharing this amazing country with pupils and seeing them grow in confidence and ability once geography is brought to life for them. This role still gives me the opportunity to teach – in the most wonderful classroom in the world.

My favourite place in Iceland…

Husavik in the North and the Westman Islands in the South.
