A bit about me…

I have been a teacher of geography for 15 years and in that time I have been a Head of Department for 12 years, securing the Geographical Association’s Secondary Geography Quality Mark. I am currently a Head of Humanities.

Why I love being a Teacher Tour Leader…

I will forever appreciate the opportunities provided by supportive Senior Leaders that have enabled me to organise and lead numerous trips both at home and overseas. Iceland has to be my favourite though as my students have always voiced such incredibly positive feedback.

The role of Teacher Tour Leader interested me because it gives me an opportunity to share best practice and advice with other guides as well as supporting UK teachers and trip leaders. Additionally, as a parent, I recognise how much parents and their children positively anticipate their trip of a lifetime and I want to help make those dreams a reality.

My favourite place in Iceland…

Initially, the Blue Lagoon was my must-do activity as I do like to be pampered! I also love, I thoroughly enjoy lava-tube caving. What an experience! From the wild weather in the exposed lava fields to the realisation of scrambling through lava tubes that were formed so long ago…

The approach to Keflavik airport (whilst in the air) and is the most exciting sight but once on the ground a brisk hike up Eldfell on Heimaey is a truly amazing experience never to be forgotten.
