This Geography Awareness Week, we want to see your best geographical images that capture wildlife, scenery or a moment of joy. Your photos can be from any type of camera but must be unedited.

What will I win?

One free place on Discover the World Education’s Teacher Inspection Trip to Iceland including return flights from London Stansted, shared accommodation, all transport in Iceland and all excursions and activities. (If your flight is international, a contribution will be made towards your flight)

What is a teacher inspection visit?

Our popular teacher inspection trip journeys through South and West Iceland encompassing a variety of geographical highlights such as hiking Solheimajokull glacier, exploring the Secret Lagoon and visiting the most impressive waterfalls in the area such as Skogafoss, Seljalandsfoss and Barnafoss.

On these trips, you can: 

  • Learn useful background knowledge on the country you’re visiting
  • Choose the right trip to suit your students needs

By entering this competition the entrant is indicating his/her agreement to bound by these terms and conditions.

This competition is open across our Facebook and Instagram platforms.

This competition is open from 23rd  November 2023 and closes midnight 30th November 2023. The promoter (Discover the World Education) reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and prize without notice. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible.

The entrant must be a geography, science, pastoral or humanities teacher and teaching KS3 and above – references to prove this may be requested. There will only be one winner. The winner will be chosen at random on 1st December 2023. The winner will be announced via Discover the World Education’s social media platforms (facebook, Instagram and twitter) on 4th December 2023 at 4pm. The winner will also be contacted via email. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.

The entrant must be following Discover the World Education on Instagram and Facebook  to enter. The entrant must like the post relating to the competition to be eligible to enter.

This competition is open to teachers who have not travelled on one of Discover the World Education’s teacher inspection trips in the last 5 years with their current school.

Contributions to international flights are up to £500 / 600 USD / 575 Euros. Contribution to international flights are upon completion of the teacher inspection trip on 31st May 2024. Contribution to international flights are only eligible once flight confirmation and invoice is received. The winner agrees to use his/her name and image in publicity material, as well as their entry image.

All images must be exclusive ownership of the entrant. The entrants contact name and email address will be stored solely for communication regarding the competition only.

The prize is as follows

  • One place on Discover the World Education’s Teacher Inspection trip departing 26th May 2024 to South and West Iceland, returning 31st May 2024
  • Return flights from London Stansted including taxes and 20kg checked luggage or Contributions to international flight up to £500 / 600 USD / 575 Euros
  • Full board accommodation based on 2-4 sharing, using shared facilities
  • All transport within Iceland
  • All activities and excursions detailed in the itinerary which will be sent prior to departure
  • Services of a Teacher Tour Leader and Discover the World Education representative
  • Paid partner places are possible but non-refundable
