A bit about me…

Having taught in secondary education for over thirty years, I am an experienced geography teacher, my specialism is physical geography. Fieldwork has been an important component of my teaching and I have organised and taken part in numerous field trips within the UK and Europe. I spent a lot of my leisure time walking and climbing, as well as being a leader on youth expeditions to Iceland, The Yukon, Greenland, and The Himalayas.

Why I love being a Teacher Tour Leader…

Becoming a Teacher Tour Leader with Discover the World has given me the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge about the subject and the places I love, especially Iceland.

Iceland’s unique landscape enthuses me. Since my first trip as a teenager, (I went by ship in the 1970s spending 6 weeks camping in the interior near Langjokull) I have been back many times with expeditions, school trips and with friends. I have travelled to most parts of the country.

My favourite place in Iceland…

It’s hard to pick one activity or one place as my favourite, however, the Snaefellsnes peninsula is special. Sitting on top of Snaefellsjokull watching my brocken spectre and glory on the cloud in the crater was a fantastic experience, but then again so was exploring the nearby lava tubes and caves.
