EcoCamp Patagonia, opened in 2001, was the first fully sustainable tourist accommodation south of the Amazon. It is located in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park (Chile), home to some of the world’s most impressive scenery and hiking routes. The park encompasses spectacular forests, glaciers, lakes, rivers and fjords, as well as fascinating fauna, including pumas, guanacos, foxes, and a diverse array of birds.
The EcoCamp domes cater for those looking to combine adventure and nature immersion with comfort and relaxation, without tarnishing the fragile environment. There are no fences surrounding the area, so the wildlife is free to come and go as it pleases. Solar lamps light the walkways and domes at night. They are very subtle so as to not disturb nocturnal animals.
While the size and facilities vary depending on the type of dome booked, all have a special wind resistant design and comfortable beds. With the exception of the standard category, all domes also have private bathrooms, heating and electricity.
The resident activity guides, who are mainly locals, have grown up breathing the fresh Patagonian air and are keen to ensure the service levels for both guests and the environment are of the highest quality. They are all fun-loving trekking enthusiasts who love what they do and can be counted on for knowledge, reliability and entertainment.
Optional excursions available from the camp include kayaking, cycling, wildlife spotting, boat trips, fishing, yoga, and of course, many world class hikes.
