Entre Hielos Lodge – Caleta Tortel

Introduction

The rustic Entre Hielos Lodge, situated on a sheltered hillside, looking out over Tortel Bay, is a charming home away from home at the edge of civilisation.

The stretch of the Carretera Austral that reaches the small settlement of Caleta Tortel was only completed in 2003. This means the timber based community has been largely unaffected by events in the wider world and it remains the perfect place to escape from the trappings of modern life.

The 6 guest rooms are simple, but fresh and reflect the natural environment that surrounds the property. The centrepiece of the lodge is its open plan communal lounge, dining and kitchen area, all warmed by a cosy fireplace.

The bulk of the village is famed for having been constructed over water on top of thousands of wooden stilts, connected by a series of raised walkways, and the lodge has bought into this tradition by constructing its own boardwalk to link it with the other local properties.

The in-house restaurant serves sumptuous wholesome cuisine made from local ingredients and is ideal for re-energising after a long day of driving or exploring.
