The rustic Entre Hielos Lodge, situated on a sheltered hillside, looking out over Tortel Bay, is a charming home away from home at the edge of civilisation.
The stretch of the Carretera Austral that reaches the small settlement of Caleta Tortel was only completed in 2003. This means the timber based community has been largely unaffected by events in the wider world and it remains the perfect place to escape from the trappings of modern life.
The 6 guest rooms are simple, but fresh and reflect the natural environment that surrounds the property. The centrepiece of the lodge is its open plan communal lounge, dining and kitchen area, all warmed by a cosy fireplace.
The bulk of the village is famed for having been constructed over water on top of thousands of wooden stilts, connected by a series of raised walkways, and the lodge has bought into this tradition by constructing its own boardwalk to link it with the other local properties.
The in-house restaurant serves sumptuous wholesome cuisine made from local ingredients and is ideal for re-energising after a long day of driving or exploring.
- On-site restaurant
- Communal lounge
- Free Wi-Fi – in limited areas and at restricted times
- Free parking – some distance from the lodge which is only accessible by boardwalks
Please note: Due to the remote location of the lodge, electricity is subject to rationing. Power is therefore only available at the following times.
Monday to Friday: From 07:00 to 10:00 and from 20:00 to 23:59.
Saturday and Sunday: From 10:00 to 13:00 and from 20:00 to 23:59.
