Farewell Harbour Lodge

Farewell Harbour Lodge

Introduction

Farewell Harbour Lodge is a beautiful wilderness property ideally situated to experience the best of British Columbia’s whale watching and bear viewing opportunities.

Farewell Harbour Lodge is located on Berry Island, on 10 acres of forested land overlooking the renowned Broughton Archipelago Marine Park. To the east lies Knight Inlet, renowned for its grizzly bears, and to the west the Johnstone Straight and Robson Bight Ecological Reserve, home to one of the world’s largest resident pods of orca.

From this exceptional vantage point Farewell Harbour Lodge offers a comfortable and homely base from which to enjoy the region’s natural wonders. A highlight of the main lodge building is its wraparound deck boasting spectacular views and unforgettable sunsets. Inside, the guest lounge, dining room and bar are enhanced by large windows and a brick fireplace.

Along the boardwalk 8 guest cabins spread out along the shore, each with an ensuite bathroom and harbour views. A ramp leads off the main lodge to a floating wing on the harbour, which features 4 additional suites. Throughout the lodge unique design features incorporate natural cedar and local art, creating a distinctive, relaxing ‘west coast’ feel.

Farewell Harbour Lodge are committed to conservation and practice small but important behaviours around the lodge such as energy conservation and the reduce, reuse and recycle method. Farewell Harbour Lodge also believe in getting involved in some of the science that is going on in the local region, helping scientists understand the complex web of life that surrounds and nourishes all of us. One of their core conservation efforts is around climate change and they are proud to work with an organisation to not only identify and implement greenhouse gas reduction strategies but also to identify strategic investment in carbon offset credits.

Conservation at Farewell Harbour

Farewell Harbour Lodge is committed to sustainability, with a focus on climate change and lowering the carbon footprint through the practice of reduce, re-use and recycle.  The lodge is also working in conjunction with Climate Smart to identify and implement greenhouse gas reduction strategies, as well as investing in carbon offset credits, with a goal of becoming carbon neutral. Each guest will make a small contribution with a $10 per person carbon offset fee built into all package prices.

Farewell Harbour Lodge is also a member of the Commercial Bear Viewing Association of BC and the North Island Marine Mammal Stewardship Association. The lodge makes an annual contribution to both of these organisations to support the protection and conservation of both bears and whales in their natural habitats.
