Hotel Malarhorn

Introduction

Located in the tiny village of Drangsnes, Hotel Malarhorn offers 14 double rooms in Iceland’s rural western fjords. A coastal town that overlooks the deep midnight waters of the Atlantic Ocean, from here you will have access to miles of coastline that invite you to wander through this incredible wilderness.

Wildlife cruises onto the fjord can be arranged at the hotel and whales, seals, puffins and a myriad of seabirds can be seen on one of their guided trips to Grimsey Island (running only in the summer as the weather permits). The hotel is situated next to the town’s swimming pool and the naturally-heated hot tubs are found just nearby. The hotel’s restaurant sits right beside the guesthouse, offering a fine breakfast buffet (summer months only) and a menu of local fare. The emphasis here is on local foods and traditional dishes, specialising in freshly caught fish and Icelandic lamb from the area.

The large balcony makes way for spectacular views over Steingrimsfjord and the island of Grimsey. The rooms are set in a lively wooden building and you have a choice of private or shared facilities and come with tea and coffee making facilities.
