Award-winning 152 room Kingfisher Bay Resort provides the ideal base from which to explore the dunes, freshwater lakes and endless beaches that make K’gari (formerly Fraser Island) so unique. The world’s largest sand island and a World Heritage wilderness, K’gari is home to lush rainforests and all manner of birds and Australian wildlife.

The resort sits amongst tree-covered dunes on the edge of the calm waters of the Great Sandy Strait. A wide variety of optional excursions are available such as ranger-guided 4WD eco-tours, whale-watching (August to October) and canoe trips. And when the day’s exploring is done, indulge in a great Australian food and wine experience with all the creature comforts. If you would prefer to spend your days relaxing in the sun, the hotel is equipped with an outdoor pool, a tennis court, a volleyball court and a private beach. Kayak, sailing and snorkelling equipment are available for rental and scuba excursions can be arranged.

Each of the hotel’s 152 rooms comes equipped with a spa or Jacuzzi in the bathroom, TV, an iron and a hair dryer. Fraser Island is reached by a 40 minute launch transfer from Hervey Bay, 3.5 hours drive north of Brisbane.
