Introduction

This charming wilderness lodge, is located in the heart of Finnish Lapland amidst the Saariselka fells and Urho Kekkonen National Park. Offering hotel rooms, apartment style accommodation, Aurora Cabins, Superior rooms with sauna and Log Cabins – the lodge is ideal for couples, families and friends travelling together.

Muotka boasts a cosy lounge area where tea and coffee are served throughout the day, and a cosy, open plan restaurant comes complete with log fire. Your stay is based on full board, although additional snacks and drinks (including alcoholic) can be purchased. The sauna is heated daily and has allocated times for male and female guests. Alternatively, you can book a private sauna outside these times at an additional cost of around €20 per 1 hour (payable locally). There is also a large traditional smoke sauna on site which is available to use twice a week (there is an additional charge to have these saunas heated). There is also an outdoor fireplace, lean-to and a Sami hut. Or, for those who are so inclined, head down to the nearby river for an Arctic plunge through the ‘hole in the ice’.

There are a range of activities included in your stay here, such as a snowmobile safari to a reindeer farm or onto the fells, hunting for the northern lights, a husky sled journey, snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

Hotel Rooms and Studios

Wilderness Hotel rooms: (capacity 1-3 people) located in two separate hotel buildings, some in the main building also housing the restaurant and reception and some in a separate building a short walk away. They are furnished in a rustic style and have either twin or double bed.

Wilderness Premium rooms: (capacity 1-2 people) are located in a separate building close to the main building housing the restaurant and reception. They are modern and spacious with either twin or double bed.

Riverside room: (capacity 2 people) The Riverside rooms are located in the Riverside building close to the hotel. Each room has a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, ensuite bathroom with private sauna.

Riverside Suite: (capacity 2-4 people) in a separate building next to the Riverside room, it is open plan with a large double bed and sofa bed suitable for children, a fireplace and bathroom with sauna.

Superior room with sauna: (capacity 2-4 people) located in log buildings 80 metres from the restaurant and reception, each containing four separate superior rooms. The rooms are spacious and more modern in style with queen size bed, sofa bed and large bathroom with sauna.

Cabins and Aurora Accommodation

Cabins are located approximately 40 to 150 metres from the main building.

Panorama Log Cabin: (capacity 2 -4 people) these cosy and rustic log cabins are perfect for couples! each with a large double bed and either chairs or sofa bed, log burner, small kitchenette and bathroom with sauna.

Aurora Cabins: (capacity 2-4 people) have a large north facing window, ideal for gazing at the sky above looking for the northern lights. They are spacious for couples with double bed and bathroom, most have private sauna. With the addition of a sofa bed they can sleep up to 4.

Riverside Log Cabin: (capacity 4-5 people) A spacious log cabin suitable for a family or group of friends. The ground floor has a bedroom with a double bed, living room area with fire place, kitchenette, one toilet and bathroom with sauna. Upstairs has 3 single beds on an open loft area and further toilet.
