Radisson Blu Polar Hotel, Longyearbyen
Introduction
At the world’s northernmost hotel you are in the heart of Longyearbyen.
The hotel was completed in March 1995 after a wing from the former Tråseth Hotel, The Americans’ sponsor hotel during the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics, which was transported to Svalbard.
The service section containing the restaurant and lobby was designed by the Polish architect Krystjan Dolatowski. His inspiration taken from Hiorthfjellet gave rise to the design of the high ceiling, giving the restaurant an almost sacral atmosphere with mountains greeting you as you walk into the room.
From your table at Restaurant Nansen you can enjoy the panoramic view towards the majestic mountain Hiorthfjellet accompanied by an excellent Arctic menu and a good selection of wines.
