The County Hotel, Napier

Introduction

Originally built in 1909, this 18-room hotel is one of only two significant buildings to have survived the massive 1931 earthquake.

Faithfully refurbished as a boutique hotel, it has character, distinction and charm only 10 minutes from Napier’s centre. The Napier Botanical Gardens is only a 2-minute walk from the hotel, and provide a great place to take a book, sit back and relax. The New Zealand Wine Centre is located directly opposite and is the ultimate wine experience in New Zealand.

The hotel is home to the extremely popular, award winning Chambers Restaurant which focuses on the divine local flavours of Hawke’s Bay both on the plate and in your wine glass. The restaurant offers internationally influence cuisine and is open daily for breakfast and dinner. The superb Churchill’s Champagne & Snug bar offers a choice of champagne, beers and single-malt whiskeys.

All eighteen rooms are beautifully presented with antique furniture, 1930’s inspired decor and high palatial ceilings. Some have a private balcony with outdoor furniture to relax upon. All combine turn-of-the-century charm with state-of-the-art technology and feature personal mobile phones, hairdyers, in-room safes, iron and ironing boards, tea and coffee making facilities and large, flat-screen TVs. Each of the Luxury Rooms has a well-appointed tiled bathroom with a deep spa tub and/or claw foot bath and/or separate shower. The Superior Spa Rooms are beautifully spacious, with a bathroom containing either a therapeutic spa bath or the larger spa tub along with a separate shower.
