Offering views over the steaming hot springs and mountain peaks that surround the town of Hveragerdi, The Greenhouse Hotel opened in 2021 and brings a fresh and natural vibe.
The hotel features 49 guest rooms, each with locally made or recycled furniture, tv, large window and spacious bathroom. The unique online check-in process ensures a seamless arrival, and the same technology also allows guests to pre-order meals from the downstairs food hall.
The food hall comprises a selection of restaurants as well as the relaxing Colonial Bar, which hosts live music under the palm fronds. Breakfast and light snacks are available from the Greenhouse Café and Juicebar. The hotel also houses a collection of Icelandic designer stores, ranging from knitwear to household goods, as well as a gourmet delicatessen.
Natural plants and foliage are scattered throughout the hotel and the emphasis on sustainability is apparent in the use of local produce, tech solutions to minimise usage and waste, reusing and upcycling furniture, collaborating with the local community, and encouraging guests to travel responsibly.
The property is conveniently located 45 minutes from Reykjavik and is a great base from which to explore the many attractions of south west Iceland.
